travel time: October 2023

We decided to spend one night on the beautiful island of Nusa Penida. From Sanur (Bali) we took a speed boat to the island in the morning to get the most out of our days.

Kelingking Beach

Kelingking Beach is the most picturesque and well-known spot on the island of Nusa Penida. Of course, we couldn´t miss out this experience. We arrived at the viewpoint in the afternoon and even though there were quite some people it wasn´t as crowded as expected. From the viewpoint you have an amazing view over the beautiful land formation.

We knew that the way down would be a hard one and we weren´t sure if we are going all the way down. The first part on the ridge starts easy with stairs and some rocks. After that it was more climbing than hiking and as the sun was still burning hot, we decided that it was enough for us. We enjoyed the view from about halfway down and it was amazing. Unfortunately, many people underestimate the hike, because you could see some people struggling to come back up.

Angel´s Billabong & Broken Beach

Angel´s Billabong is a natural pool by the ocean. Depending on the time you are visiting you can have crystal clear water with a rather calm sea, or you can experience the full force of the ocean coming in waves. We went at the time of low tide and experienced an amazing clear nature pool.

Just a few meters away from Angel´s Billabong you can find an amazing stone formation with a small beach. The Broken Beach is not accessible and can only viewed from the top. Here you find an arch-like rock formation surrounding this white sandy beach.

Teletubbies Hills

The Teletubbies Hills are in the southeast of the island. This group of big round hills is not that much of a tourist attraction, but they are really calming to walk around and take a bit of a rest. Even though we were during dry season the hills were quite green and lush.

Diamond Beach

Our last stop on the island was Diamond Beach. From the top you find an amazing postcard picture. White sand with clear blue water and rock formations that are shaped like diamonds. In the wall they caved stairs out of the limestone to climb down to the beach. Once you reach the bottom you find an amazing beach with a likewise stunning view. The beach is not made for swimming as the waves are quite high and there is a strong current.
