Plane at the airport
Our Plane to Agadir

The warm sun greeted us upon our arrival in the morning. Passport control at Agadir airport was surprisingly quick – it only took us about 20 minutes despite the long line. Unfortunately, we waited a full hour at the car rental counter before finally receiving our vehicle. Nonetheless, our Moroccan journey was ready to begin.

Our first excursion led us to Plage de Lagzira to see the sea and the famous natural rock arch. Arriving in the early afternoon, the arch was somewhat obscured by the tide. Nevertheless, it was a delightful experience, capped off with a refreshing drink at one of the beachside cafés.

Returning to Agadir, we explored Souk el Had – a sprawling area of small shops bustling with vendors. Given that it was the final day of Ramadan, many shops closed early, making it challenging to find open restaurants. In the end we discovered a charming local restaurant to conclude our day.

With our rental car, we drove to Marrakech and arrived around midday. After the check-in at our beautiful riad, we ventured into town. We quickly noticed many small shops were closed in the afternoon. It was unclear whether this was due to the heat or because of Eid (the festival marking the end of Ramadan).

Our first stops included the Mellah Spice Market, a leisurely stroll by the Bahia Palace and a visit at Jemaa el-Fna.

During the day, this vibrant square is relatively empty due to the intense heat. Just a few minutes away you find the Koutoubia Mosque with its stunning Minaret. After that we ventured further into the medina to discover charming narrow walkways.

After a refreshing juice at a rooftop bar, we explored Medersa Ben Youssef - an ancient school with breathtaking interior design. We were astonished by the beautiful tiles and the inner courtyard with the pool.

Just before sunset we returned to the Koutoubia Minaret to capture the perfect lighting for photos. For dinner, we headed back to Jemaa el-Fna, which was alive with people having fun, enjoying dinner and shopping.
